Monday Morning

We are well into our second week here, and our ministry is in full swing. So far, the weekends have proved to be the busiest time here. Saturday is "Joy Kids" an outreach where children from around the community come to learn skills and hear short gospel lessons. Sunday, we have English worship in the morning, and then at 1:00 we have Thai worship. In recent weeks, a bunch of the children from Joy Kids have been coming to the church service. It's a great development, but it is also adding some difficulties as we're figuring out how to accommodate 30 small children during an adult service that typically has 10 or so in attendance. This week, the Thai staff entertained the smallest ones during the worship hour, and then in the bible study/prayer hour Melissa and Jan (the pastor's wife) taught the first children's Sunday school lesson at New Community church. [Unrelated side note: while they taught the class, I stayed in the office area to work on some English class materials. Some of the kids were not in the classrooms because Thai children tend to wander a bit. There was a small toddler that has been coming with his older sister. He kind of played around the office the whole hour, and then when he went home I found a mysterious yellow puddle under a desk. Turns out a lot of Thai babies don't wear diapers.] Things went well on Sunday, but it was anything but a sabbath for us. I think we will have the day off on Thursday, and I can't wait. Please pray for the Lord to sustain us in the next few days, and provide us with time to intentionally seek after him through prayer and meditation every day.
