Just Getting started
After a brief 8 month hiatus, I am back in the blogging saddle, and more importantly I am planting a church. That's right, Dorchester has grown on us over the past year, and we have decided to join up with Christ the Ki
ng's church planting vision. Our goal is to see at least 20 churches planted in the next 20 years throughout the greater Boston area starting with CTK-Dorchester (for more info on the church click any of the tabs above).

In Dorchester, our congregation has been meeting for over a year now, but no one has been working full-time for the church. More importantly, no one with experience in church planting has been working full-time with the church. All that is changing in two weeks. Dan Rogers, our lead pastor arrives with is wife and 5 children to head up the church plant, and Christ the King has allowed me to come on as a church planting intern. My job will be 1. to do whatever Dan tells me to do, 2. To fulfill my Internship requirements for ordination, and 3. To prepare for church planting assessment in 2010. Melissa and I love the neighborhood, and we have already met a lot of people who are interested in what we are trying to accomplish here. As far as strategy goes, our first priority is loving our neighbors. Although there are great needs in our community, we hope to observe the city and network with other ministries rather than assume we know what is best from the get go.
Of course, we are creating one new ministry outlet this Saturday...church softball. The CTK-Dorchester Shawmutts (named after the Shawmut T stop where we are located) promise to be the bad news bears/little giants/mighty ducks of the Boston Metro Church Softball league. Our mother Church CTK-Cambridge has won the league two years in a row, but we hope to gather new ringers each week and eventually rise to the top despite being an expansion team.
With this internship I will be raising funds for the next few years. Please pray for me as I network and make contacts with people across the country whom the Lord is calling to support our vision.
