Apparently the rainy season has started a little earlier than normal this year. The people who live here tell us that normally the heavy rain comes in July, but so far it has rained every day that we've been here. Last night, we went to meet some friends to go see Spiderman 3, but when we left the house, we found that the roads had been mysteriously replaced with rivers and lakes. Melissa and I debated the possible ways to circumnavigate the muddy waters for a couple of minutes, but we couldn't figure anything out (at least not anything that would work without any ability to speak Thai). So, we rolled up our pant legs and waded through. Now, I'm not exactly sure about the cleanliness of the average Thai street, but I'm guessing it's is not a good idea to spend too much time in that water. All in all, I think we made it through alright, but I did notice a distinct burning sensation on the bottom of my left foot for the next hour or so.
